2013 - 2014 Campaign Kickoff

This year the United Way of South Central Nebraska held their annual campaign kickoff outdoors on Sunday, September 8th at Hastings College! It was a beautiful, hot summer's day but that didn't stop plenty of families from stopping by to check out all our agencies had to offer.  The ice cream truck was there to provide cool treats to all who were present.  Kim's Weeni Cart and Roosters BBQ were also present to feed the crowd and add to the atmosphere.  It was a fun day of games and laughter with raffle prizes being handed out left and right to those who could answer pop trivia questions regarding the United Way and its parner agencies on demand as well as bigger drawings for everyone who turned in their kickoff event passports showing they visited the booths of at least half or more of our partner agencies. 

Overall, the kickoff was a success in promoting the United Way and its 19 partner agencies! In addition to receiving several donations from different individuals that day, many of our agencies were able to recruit more volunteers to help them with all of their various needs and events that take place throughout the year! We were so happy and greatful to see so many people take time out of their busy Sunday schedules to come check us out! A big THANK YOU goes outto all of our vendors present as well as to Hastings College for allowing us to hold our campaign on their campus this year!

Our goal is to raise $455,000 for the 2013-2014 camapaign year.  To date, we have raised a total of $53,000 so far which is about 11.5% of our total goal! Thanks to all of you who have made a donation already this year and to all of you who will be making a donation yet for this campaign year! Every little bit helps and you can be proud knowing that you are a part of an organization that is able to make such a huge impact in the lives of so many people in our local communities because of people like you, your compassion and your generosity!

This Year Five Points Bank accepted the role of a Pacesetter company for the United Way of South Central Nebraska.  We would like to thank them for their continued commitment and support to United Way as well as for demonstrating generosity and leadership within their local community.  It is companies and people like you who help to make such a difference in the lives of so many people!

 

What is a Pacesetter Company? Pacesetter businesses demonstrate leadership by encouraging employee participation in our community and providing generous financial support to help "set the pace" during the annual United Way Campaign.

All Pacesetter businesses are asked to exhibit leadership in the following ways:

  • Conduct a workplace campaign starting in August
  • Ensure success of the workplace campaign by making it fun and educational for employees
  • Report campaign results prior to the campaign kick-off and wrap up their campaign before the end of November
  • Provide corporate support for United Way fundraisers through sponsorship or by providing employee volunteers and encouraging attendance
  • Help United Way of South Central Nebraska remain connected with employees who leave or retire by obtaining permission to pass on updated contact information or allowing a campaign presentation at retiree events
  • During orientation, encourage new employees to begin a relationship with United Way

Being a Pacesetter:

  • Connects your company or organization with other leading businesses that are working to build a strong and healthy community.
  • Gives employees a chance to unite as a team and feel a sense of pride that they are working to make a difference in the community.
  • Informs employees about available services and volunteer opportunities within the community.
  • Earns your company or organization special recognition at United Way’s Annual Meeting & Community Awards Event.
  • Showcases your company or organization as a leader in the community in United Way’s website, newsletter and other media opportunities.
  • Defines your company or organization as an essential member of a team that raises money for the local area!!
