Mission:  The mission of the Overland Trails Council is to instill values and in other ways to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetime in achieving their full potential.  The values we see to instill are those found in the scout oath and law.

Programs/Services Provided:

  • Cub Scouting for boys in the 1st - 5th grade
  • Boy Scouting for boys in the 6th grade until the age of 18
  • Venturing for boys and girls from 13years of age to 21
  • Exploring for boys and girls for 14 years of age to 21
  • Learning for Life for boys and girls in kindergarten through 12th grade

 

 

How United Way Funds are used:  United Way funds allow training for adult leaders, provide maintenance and upkeep of Camp Augustine, provide financial assistance to youth to go to camp, train staff to work with individual units and improve the quality of the program.

 

Cub Scouting: 

The 10 purposes of the Cub Scout Program are:  Character Development, Spiritual Growth, Good Citizenship, Fitness, Family Understanding, Respectful Relationships, Personal Achievement, Friendly Service, Fun and Adventure, and preparing them to become Boy Scouts.

Boy Scouting endeavors to develop American citizens who are physically, mentally, and emotionally fit: have a high degree of self-reliance, as evidenced in such qualities as initiateve, courage, and resourcefulness; have personal values based on religious concepts; have the desire and skills to help others; and understand the principals of the American social, economic, and government systems.
