The United Way of South Central Nebraska

As we look forward to the 2013 Campaign - Where are all the Superheroes?

As children we are drawn to stories about superheroes. Superheroes have the ability to save people from disaster. They show kindness to all. They are humble and often disguise their identity. They fly in wearing a cape and vanquish the evil villains that plague our society.

As we grow up it becomes more difficult to believe in superheroes. There are no flashes across the sky, no masked individuals jumping out of the darkness to rescue us, and no parades to celebrate our cape crusaders. But heroes do exist. They may not dress in bright colors and flashy masks, but they act every day to battle poverty and injustice.

The United Way of South Central Nebraska believes that our community is filled with passionate, caring heroes that live to make their community a better place just as Superheroes do. They work tirelessly, never asking or expecting to be recognized for their actions. For that reason, the campaign theme for the 2013 Campaign is "Inner Hero." It doesn't take a cape and goggles or a special uniform to be a super hero; it takes caring about the needs of people in our community and doing what you can to help. Join us as we go up, up, and away and release our inner hero!
