The following is a list of local health and human service agencies that are looking for volunteers. The agencies listed below are not all United Way agencies. This is a service that the United Way of South Central Nebraska provides to assist area agencies and volunteers to get connected. Hastings Literacy AmeriCorps Program will have AmeriCorps Member Volunteer service opportunities to begin September 1, 2010 and run through August 31, 2011. These volunteers will be eligavle for a paid living allowance and educational award. Members must commit to serve a minimum of 450 hours over the program year. Volunteer opportunities will be in GED, English as a Second Language, Citizenship, Computer Literacy, Immigration Services, After School Programs and more. Is a group of coordinators, managers and supervisors who meet monthly to discuss management practices and create volunteer accessibility for the needs of the agencies in Hastings. We meet for a round-table discussion on volunteer projects, disaster relief and recovery, and management training on the second Tuesday of every month, except for July and December, in the Community Room at Crossroads. If you work with volunteers or need volunteers, this is the place for you.
